Tarot does not dictate the future it just reveals the direction in which we are currently heading. The future is always subject to change and is entirely reliant on the actions and decisions made by the person being read for. Tarot reflects the understanding and, therefore, the control we have over ourselves, our feelings and our life situations. It guides us to make not necessarily the 'right' decision but the 'informed' one.
Tarot drives us to look at people and situations from different angles and perspectives to gain empathy where it may not have existed before. In each card there is an inherent message containing knowledge that benefits the Subject if they can just understand its true relevance in the here and now. This is why the ability to read Tarot is powerful. Not because it portends the future, or because we are psychic but because it aids self-development, awareness and an understanding of self that might otherwise escape us. The first step to learning Tarot is to fully understand what it can and cannot do for us.
There are advanced meanings, in addition to the short meanings provided with our deck, which you can view on the Major Arcana, Swords, Wands, Cups and Pentacles pages. We feel they are useful for anyone developing their Tarot reading skills.
